In the increasingly cluttered landscape of online marketplaces, local Australian makers face significant challenges. The market is dominated by platforms that often fail to highlight the uniqueness and creativity of individual artisans, making it difficult for shoppers to discover and engage with the rich tapestry of local talent Australia has to offer. Recognising this, POP Canberra approached Design♡Cult with a vision to disrupt the status quo. They sought to develop a unique Australia-wide mobile platform designed to bridge the gap between local makers and shoppers. The mission was clear: to create a dedicated space that focuses on promoting local makers and their products, while also being visually captivating and full of personality for both users and makers. The outcome was a resounding success. Collaborating closely, Design♡Cult provided the visionary design, and Joseph Tsindos took on the technical challenge of developing what we designed, bringing the POP shop app to life. This partnership resulted in a visually striking platform packed with personality. The app redefines the shopping experience, nestled in the pockets of users across the country, effortlessly connecting Australian makers with a nationwide audience. Through its intuitive design and user-friendly interface, the app empowers local talent, offering them a vibrant showcase for their creations and providing shoppers with an engaging, personalised shopping journey that celebrates and supports the local creative community. Along with the app, we worked with the POP team to design captivating graphics for their store, products and campaigns around Canberra. Painting the town with POP’s weird and quirky illustrations to attract the attention of many, bringing in new crowds to experience the amazing local talent that POP Canberra has to offer.
